Father of WSMC's First Baby of 2010 Attends Birth via Webcam from Iraq!
01/06/2010

Airman serving in Iraq watched his daughter’s birth over the Internet

Madilynn Nichole Draughon, born at 7:27 p.m. on January 5, is West Shore Medical Center’s first baby of 2010. The first child of proud parents Sarah and Clint Draughon will have more than that to brag about when she’s older: her dad watched her birth from Iraq!

The couple feels fortunate to have been able to be together for the birth. Although currently serving in Iraq with the U.S. Air Force, Clint was able to witness Madilynn’s arrival via webcam. Clint has been in Iraq since October and frequently uses the internet to stay in touch with his family.

The couple was thrilled that everything came together to allow Clint to be present for the entirety of Sarah’s labor and delivery and says this was the best outcome they could have hoped for under the circumstances. The family will be reunited in March.
