Join us Thursday, October 18, 2012, for West Shore Healthcare Foundation's 5th Annual Paint the Town Pink!

Help us raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. The walk is free and open to the public. Donations are gratefully accepted, and all proceeds will benefit West Shore Medical Center's PET scan services.

Registration and social hour begin at 4 p.m. near Cornerstone Park at the west end of River Street (near the fountain). A brief ceremony will be held at 5 p.m., immediately followed by the one-mile Pink Ribbon Walk up the River Walk and through River Street. Go at your own pace and walk only as far as you like. Organizations and businesses will be setting up pit stops along the route; stop for goodies and coupons. If your organization would like to host a pit stop, please contact Nancy Day at (231) 887-4066. Spaces are limited, and reservations must be received by September 30 to be included in promotional listings.

Other activities will include: sidewalk chart art by area elementary school students, pink storefront decorations, and businesses offering specials.

Paint the Town Pink tie-dye t-shirts will be available for purchase in the West Shore Medical Center Radiology Department and at the following locations: Sports Ink, Manistee Area Chamber of Commerce, Goody's, Northern Spirits, Surroundings, Manistee Senior Center, Kellie's Hallmark, and Wahr Hardware.

Pink ribbon cards will be sold for $1 at the hospital and at locations around the county.

• Wesco full-service gas event, Thursday, October 18, at the Filer Street Wesco. Tips benefit the cause.
• Wesco car wash, Saturday, October 20.
