Emergency Services

When seconds count, you can count on West Shore's Emergency Department, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Board-certified emergency medicine doctors, as well as nurses and support staff with specialty training, treat emergency cases. Treatment is also available for urgent medical needs that cannot wait for regular physician office hours.
West Shore Medical Center provides emergency response services for the county from two locations: West Shore's main facility in Manistee and Maple Grove Township Fire Department in Kaleva. Full-time West Shore Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff are paramedics, which is the highest certification for emergency workers.
Through our affiliation with Munson Healthcare and DeVos Children's Hospital-Spectrum, helicopters and fixed-wing services are used to transport critically ill and injured patients. A helipad is located on the hospital's campus, and Blacker Airport is less than a mile from West Shore.
