West Shore is the only hospital in northwest Michigan to offer 160-slice computed tomography (CT). The 160-slice machine provides high resolution images while limited the patient’s radiation exposure. West Shore’s Radiology Department also features a fixed-base MRI that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and mobile positron emission tomography (PET) technology is on-site bi-weekly for patients needing advanced scann. These advanced diagnostic systems produce highly accurate images, provide patients with shorter and more comfortable exams, and reduce travel or waiting time for these procedures.
A Filmless Radiology System
West Shore Medical Center uses PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), a digital system for electronic transmission of images such as x-rays, CT scans, and MRIs. This allows patient data to be available on a computer immediately, which generates faster results and more immediate care. It also allows physicians to consult more conveniently with physicians at other locations.
Radiology for Women
West Shore provides breast health services in a confidential, comfortable setting. Our Radiology Department includes a women's services suite that houses procedures primarily used by women, such as mammography and bone densitometry. In addition, West Shore has several technologists certified in digital mammography to make your experience as comfortable as possible. Read more...

To ensure that our program meets the highest industry standards, West Shore is accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) in extracranial cerebrovascular diagnostic exams, as well as peripheral venous and arterial testing.
In addition, the department's echocardiography lab is also certified by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories.
Radiology services are available at three locations in Manistee County. In addition to West Shore's main hospital, routine x-rays are available at Bear Lake Outpatient Services and Wellston Outpatient Services.
