Sleep Disorders Center
Over 40 percent of the population suffers from some type of sleep-related condition. While more common in some groups, such as seniors, sleep disorders can occur in men and women of all ages, as well as children and infants.
Some indications of sleep disorders include:
- Excessive snoring
- Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
- Inability to sleep at the proper time
- Periodic kicking of legs
- Gasping for breath while sleeping
- Daytime sleepiness
Offered in cooperation with Munson Healthcare, the Sleep Disorders Center at West Shore Medical Center provides services for the evaluation and treatment of sleep-related conditions. Sleep studies are conducted in a mobile unit by physicians and technologists specializing in sleep disorders and pulmonary medicine. Preliminary evaluation and follow-up treatment is coordinated with the primary care physician.
