- Inability to sleep at the proper time
- Periodic kicking of legs
- Gasping for breath while sleeping
- Daytime sleepiness
The Sleep Disorders Center at West Shore Medical Center provides highly specialized evaluation, diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment for people with sleep disorders. Our patients enjoy quiet, comfortable, hotel-like rooms. Each suite features queen-size adjustable beds and private whirlpool baths and showers. While most patients stay overnight, testing hours are available to best suit patients’ typical sleep schedules.
In an adjacent control room, a highly-skilled technician monitors patients while they are sleeping. Multiple physiologic measurements are taken using state-of-the-art, digital computer diagnostic technology.
After the study is complete, a registered polysomnographic technologist reviews and analyzes the results in preparation for interpretation. Physicians board-certified in sleep medicine provide consultation, interpretation and follow-up treatment of all sleep disorders during clinics held several times per month in the Sleep Center.
Our expert staff also perform electroencephalography (EEG).
